About the Role:
We are looking for a versatile and reliable Cold store order pickcker to join our team in Wakefield (WF3) on a Full-time basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts, moving goods, and ensuring safe and efficient stock management in our cold storage environment.
This role requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work in temperature-controlled areas while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Forklift Operation:
Safely and efficiently operate forklifts (counterbalance, reach trucks, or other types of forklifts as required) to move, stack, and organize goods within the warehouse and cold store.
Ensure stock is stored and retrieved accurately, following operational procedures and safety guidelines.
Cold Store Duties:
Work in a cold storage environment with temperatures as low as [insert temperature range, e.g., -18°C or -25°F].
Handle goods carefully to maintain product quality, including loading/unloading pallets, and storing them in the correct locations.
Ensure cold store equipment is functioning properly and report any issues promptly.
Stock Management:
Assist in stock control and inventory management, conducting regular stock checks, and ensuring accurate documentation of goods.
Accurately label products, pallets, and crates in accordance with company guidelines.
Health and Safety:
Adhere to all health and safety policies, including the safe operation of equipment and working in cold environments.
Conduct pre-shift checks on forklift trucks and other equipment to ensure safe operation.
Wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) as required for the cold store and general warehouse operations.
General Warehouse Support:
Assist with general warehouse tasks, including packing, sorting, and preparing goods for dispatch.
Work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily operational targets and deadlines.
Skills and Qualifications:
Forklift Certification: Valid forklift license (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach Truck, or relevant type) is required.
Experience: Previous experience in a similar warehouse or cold storage environment is preferred.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a physically demanding role and in temperature-controlled environments (cold store).
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for stock management, inventory control, and safety practices.
Team Player: Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety standards, especially in cold storage environments.
Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts (including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required).
