How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Project Engineer (Automation and Controls)

    Location:
    Bridgwater

    Hours:
    37 hours per week, Days with flexible working hours

    Salary:
    £45,000 + benefits (including 4% bonus), 25 days holiday and pension

    Key Responsibilities of a Project Engineer (Automation and Controls):

    * Act as the site expert for industrial control systems, automation and operational technology

    * Support, troubleshoot and enhance automated PLC-based and data acquisition equipment

    * Work closely with automation partners and internal teams to maintain and improve control systems

    * Lead automation and operational technology projects from concept and specification through to commissioning and production support

    * Develop and maintain project documentation and technical records

    * Analyse and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality and safety

    * Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards

    * Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production and quality teams to deliver site improvement initiatives

    Key Skills of a Project Engineer (Automation and Controls):

    * HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent)

    * Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment

    * Strong knowledge of PLC and HMI programming, ideally Siemens or Mitsubishi systems

    * Experience with industrial automation and control systems

    * Knowledge of robotics integration (ABB, Kawasaki or similar) would be advantageous

    * Experience with control panel wiring and industrial control devices

    * Understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing environments

    * Experience using CAD software such as Autodesk or SolidWorks

    * Understanding of machinery safety standards including EN 13849

    * Strong problem-solving, communication and project management skills

    * Proficient with MS Office and engineering documentation
