How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Electrical Design Engineer – AutoCAD Electrical - Sheffield – Permanent – £55-65k + BUPA / Flexible Working Hours

    Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a Sheffield based engineering and technology business delivering complex electrical and control systems into sectors such as energy, nuclear and industrial manufacturing.

    The successful Senior Electrical Design Engineer will work closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team and will be responsible for developing electrical designs and system architectures for bespoke engineered systems.

    Key aspects of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer role include –

    * Senior Electrical Design Engineer will design electrical systems including schematics, control panel layouts, GA drawings and associated technical documentation using AutoCAD Electrical

    * Develop electrical architectures and detailed designs based on customer requirements and User Requirement Specifications

    * Produce design documentation including functional specifications, test plans, technical manuals and supporting engineering documentation

    * Support procurement activities including specifying components and reviewing supplier documentation

    * Carry out testing and validation activities to ensure systems meet the required performance and design standards

    * Senior Electrical Design Engineer will support manufacturing, assembly and test activities in the workshop where required

    * Participate in technical design reviews and resolve engineering issues with project teams

    * Support site commissioning activities when required

    * Work closely with software, hardware, workshop and project management teams to deliver projects on time and within budget

    * Senior Electrical Design Engineer will engage with customers to understand requirements and ensure successful delivery of engineered solutions

    * During periods where project demands allow, the role could be set up on a hybrid basis

    * Working week is 37.5 hours – Engineers can work 7-3pm, 8-4pm or 9-5pm

    The successful Senior Electrical Design Engineer is likely to have the following background –

    * Previous experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer, Hardware Engineer or Systems Engineer within industrial automation, systems integration, OEM or manufacturing environments

    * Experience designing low voltage and extra low voltage electrical systems, typically 400VAC distribution with motor starters

    * Ability to design electrical schematics and GA drawings from scratch based on a User Requirement Specification

    * Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software

    * Previous experience working across the full project lifecycle including design, build, test and commissioning would be useful
