The successful candidate will take ownership of developing strong supply chain relationships and building long-term partnerships to support the successful delivery of projects.

    Key Responsibilities

Assess and evaluate potential new subcontractors and suppliers through the established pre-engagement process.

Maintain and update subcontractor and supplier records to ensure all information remains accurate and up to date, including scope of services, insurance, competency documentation, and any exclusions or restrictions.

Identify gaps within the supply chain and target suitable companies for engagement and approval, focusing on quality, health and safety, and value for money.

Negotiate, establish, and improve subcontractor and supplier rates, ensuring current commercial information is maintained for use in the estimating process.

Work closely with the Commercial team to provide guidance on procurement costs, rates, and market trends.

Support commercial improvement through strategic supply chain planning, developing and testing ideas and initiatives to enhance efficiency and value.

Review tender costing proposals prior to submission for final approval.

Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance using post-contract feedback from operations teams.

Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, supporting improvement initiatives where required.

Develop and improve supplier engagement, evaluation, and monitoring processes.

Implement strategies to improve value for money across the supply chain.

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Strong understanding of construction-related laws, regulations, and industry standards relating to subcontracting, procurement, and supply chain management.

Knowledge of supply chain management principles including strategic sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with the ability to manage and resolve conflicts.

Proven project management capability, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and monitoring multiple suppliers across projects.

Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions based on performance metrics.

Strong problem-solving skills to address issues relating to supplier performance, cost control, scheduling conflicts, and compliance.

Sound understanding of financial management principles including budgeting, pricing analysis, and cost control.

High level of attention to detail when managing supplier records and compliance documentation.

Experience using project management, database, and reporting software tools.

Proactive approach to identifying improvement opportunities, streamlining processes, and implementing best practices within the supply chain.
