What you'll be doing;
List, package and label hazardous waste streams at customer sites across the Southern UK region
Assess drums and their contents at customer premises to determine appropriate handling and classification
Collect wastes from customer sites and ensure safe transportation in 3.5t Luton vans in accordance with road transport and hazardous waste regulations
Use IT systems to generate transport documents, reference safety data sheets and generate quotes when required
Pump, decant and re-drum rusty or leaking containers safely
Sample various waste streams, predominantly hazardous waste, for classification purposes
Print and complete labels and ensure accurate completion of all documentation to meet customer expectations
Assess new customer inquiries and provide technical knowledge to customers and colleagues
Assist with chemist duties in the Hazardous Waste Transfer Station when needed
Assist with spillage clearance if required
Maintain adequate stock levels of routine supplies
Provide basic mentoring to new starters when suitably experienced
Foster good customer relationships and comply with all customer site rules
What we're looking for;
Minimum A-Level Chemistry or a degree/HNC in Chemistry or relevant scientific qualification (essential)
Valid UK driving licence (essential)
Good interpersonal skills for dealing with customers professionally
High level of literacy and numeracy for accurate documentation
Knowledge of environmental legislation (desirable)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Problem-solving skills with ability to find solutions independently
Enthusiastic, willing to learn and adaptable
Flexible with daily working hours as jobs may occasionally finish late
Compliance-focused mindset with commitment to Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and COSHH regulations
ADR Licence, Forklift Truck Licence and First Aid qualifications desirable (training provided if not held)
Mobile role - must be comfortable working at various customer sites across the Southern region
