How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Junior Mechanical Building Services Engineer
    North Bristol
    Salary: Competitive (depending on experience)
    Full-time | Permanent | Hybrid Working Available
    An established building services engineering consultancy based in North Bristol is seeking a Junior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join its growing team.
    This role is ideal for someone with 1–3 years’ experience within mechanical building services design who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive consultancy environment.
    You will assist in the delivery of mechanical design solutions across a variety of building projects, including both new build and refurbishment schemes across the UK.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Assist with mechanical building services design across a range of projects
    * Support senior engineers in delivering projects across RIBA work stages
    * Produce technical calculations, drawings and design documentation
    * Work alongside architects, structural engineers and contractors
    * Assist with site visits, surveys and commissioning activities
    * Contribute to the development of energy-efficient and sustainable engineering solutions
    Requirements
    * 1–3 years’ experience within mechanical building services design
    * Experience working within a building services consultancy or engineering environment
    * Understanding of HVAC systems, ventilation, heating and cooling design
    * Basic knowledge of UK building regulations and RIBA work stages
    * Strong communication and teamwork skills
    * A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
    * IESVE or similar building performance modelling tools
    * Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
