How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role
    As a Residential Childcare Worker, you’ll form part of a caring, skilled team providing day‑to‑day support to children and young people. You’ll help create a homely, nurturing environment where young people feel safe, respected, and supported to grow.
    Key responsibilities include:
    -Providing daily care, emotional support, and positive role modelling
    -Building strong, trusting relationships with young people
    -Supporting routines such as meals, education, activities, and personal care
    -Leading and participating in fun, meaningful activities and outings
    -Encouraging independence and development of life skills
    -Following individual care plans tailored to each child’s needs
    -Maintaining accurate records and sharing relevant information
    -Promoting safeguarding, health, and safety at all times
    -Supporting positive behaviour through patience, understanding, and guidance
    -Working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
    -Taking part in ongoing training and personal development

    What the Client Is Looking For
    The successful candidate will be caring, resilient, patient, and passionate about supporting young people.
    Essential:
    -Working towards NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or willing to complete within 2 years)
    -Experience working with children or young people (ideally in a care setting)
    -Understanding of child development and trauma‑informed practice
    -Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
    -Strong communication and teamwork skills
    -Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays
    -Basic knowledge of safeguarding
    -A UK driving licence (required for certain roles)
    Desirable:
    *NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare already achieved
