How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.

  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A fixed term two-year fulltime contract is being offered for an experienced Project Manager with extensive high voltage delivery experience as a Contractor.

    Your proven experience leading and managing 400kv, 275kv and 125kv High Voltage (HV) Cable and HV Plant subcontractors in delivering the works for National Grid whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant requirements, is sought.

    Reporting to the Project Director or Engineering Manager, your duties will include –

    To manage the HV designer and sub-contractor design activities and deliverables to ensure they are completed in line with the agreed Programme and Project requirements

    To be the technical lead for the HV works on the project

    To ensure both input and output deliverables for the designs are tracked and reported

    To manage the MEP designer and sub-contractor design activities and deliverables to ensure they are completed in line with the agreed programme and project requirements.

    To manage and communicate all design queries, comments and information required from Design workshops and meetings and keep records.

    To raise requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team.

    To support the Design Manager to ensure all HV and MEP design deliverables are timeously provided as per the of design programmes.

    To review Designers Monthly reports and submissions and produce monthly reports on design progress and any other design specific elements.

    To manage and update the design deliverable schedule.

    To review all design deliverables and ensure that they are completed to the expected standard. Challenge and resolve when not, including reviewing of all drawing in line with the Clients Scope/requirements.

    To attend interface meeting with external parties and assign/follow up on actions related to the Design.

    To arrange internal design interface meetings with construction department

    To ensure compliance with design management processes required by the contract.

    To collaborate with the engagement of external suppliers/subcontractors.

    To manage provision of drawings to project team – document control.

    To manage the BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works together with the BIM/CAD Technician.

    To identify Temporary Works and assist lead TWC with preparing Design briefs for HV & MEP Designs from subcontractors.

    To manage the sub-contractor packages and to ensure all legal requirements are met.

    To influence the overall project by offering input into contract management, project management, commercial management, assurance and administration

    Requirements for this project include –

    10 Year plus experience with on high voltage projects with a Contractor

    Previous experience on National Grid (NG) Projects as a Contractor, preferably on 400kV, 275kV or 132 kV circuits

    Experience on Design & Build Project as a Contractor is a definite advantage

    Previous experience and knowledge of National Grid Transmission Procedures and Technical Specification

    Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs

    Understands the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor Duties

    Exceptional know-how in implementing and promoting Digital Engineering practises in Design as well as construction.
