How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Designer - Nottingham - 45/50k

    ALH Recruitment are looking to recruit a Mechanical Designer for our client who lead their market across the UK, this role is based in their Nottingham office.

    Mechanical Designer:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for executing and leading the full design & development process from concept to manufacture. You will be involved in the design of existing and new electrical charging points.

    You will need to have a strong mindset in order to visualize the design, be able to develop overall concept, new parts and components in a wide range of manufacturing industries. Create detailed drawings and technical documentation including wire harness and electrical schematics drawings.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Be able to design and develop new products, parts and components from scratch to the final product;

    2. Create complex CAD assemblies, detailed production drawings with the use of Solidworks CAD package and compliance with the ISO9001 standard;

    3. Carrying out mechanical design calculations and analyses to satisfy all aspects of design;

    4. Ensure cost efficient and safe design for all products;

    5. Cooperate with suppliers / manufacturers and provide technical assistance when required;

    6. Produce technical documentation: drawings, bill of materials, electrical schematics;

    7. Ensure that design details are adequate for manufacture;

    8. To accurately estimate timely completion of design projects;

    Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times, both internally and externally. Follow the published processes and comply with all company policies and procedures.

    Required Capabilities:

    1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc, HND or above in an Engineering / Mechanical design related field);

    2. Proven experience working as a Senior mechanical design engineer / Product Design Engineer;

    3. General electrical / electronic knowledge;

    4. Proficient in using Solidworks CAD package;

    5. Proficient in using office applications - MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Other.

    6. Strong analytical and design skills;

    7. Good knowledge of different manufacturing processes – injection molding, sheet metal, casting, e.t.c ;

    8. Ability to develop effective working relationships with team at all levels;

    Ability to manage priorities and handle multiple tasks successfully, build your own project plan;
