Manual Grinder required for a permanent role with a medium-sized engineering firm.
Our client, a well-established engineering company, is seeking a skilled Manual Grinder to join their toolroom team. This role initially operates on a morning shift moving on to afternoons
Key Responsibilities – Manual Grinder

Set up and operate manual surface and cylindrical grinding machines to produce parts to tight tolerances, including:
*
Jones & Shipman 540 Surface Grinder – Manual
*
Jones & Shipman 1300 Cylindrical Grinder – Manual
*
XYZ 2040 Surface Grinder – Manual
*
Abwood RG1 Circular Ring Grinder – Manual
*
Measure and inspect manufactured components to ensure accuracy to engineering drawings
*
Report any deficiencies to the inspector and line manager
*
Perform routine equipment maintenance, including oil and coolant checks
*
Maintain high quality standards while minimising waste
*
Follow written instructions, safe working practices, and maintain a tidy work area
*
Support continuous improvement initiatives for safety, quality, and productivity
*
Work independently and collaboratively within a small, dedicated team
Candidate Requirements
*
Proven experience in toolroom manual grinding
*
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
*
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
*
Knowledge of CNC grinding machines advantageous (training available)
*
Experience with CMM inspection machines advantageous
*
Reliable, motivated, and quality-focused
Hours & Pay
*
Monday – Thursday: 3.00pm to 1.00am
*
36 hours per week
*
