How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About Us:
    Spectrum Children and Young People’s Services is a newly formed service but part of the Rehability UK Group and led by a team with significant experience in working with children and young people.

    We truly believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive and pursue their dreams aspirations and whatever their background. We provide services for children who may have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, Intellectual disabilities learning difficulties or living with mental health challenges. Our aim is to provide the ideal launch pad to best start their bright futures.

    Role Purpose

    To provide direct support to young people aged 16 and up. The role focuses on empowering young people to develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to achieve independence and transition into adulthood successfully. The Support Worker will work closely with the service team to ensure that the care and support provided align with regulatory standards and the young people's individual needs.

    Salary:

    * £13.25 per hour

    * Sleep In - £50

    Key Responsibilities

    * Supporting Young People:

    * Build trusting and positive relationships with young people, offering guidance, advice, and support.

    * Assist young people in developing independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and personal care.

    * Provide emotional support, listening to young people’s concerns and helping them manage challenges.

    Promoting Independence:

    Encourage young people to make their own decisions and support them in taking responsibility for their actions.

    Create opportunities for young people to practice skills in a safe and supportive environment.

    Safety and Well-being:

    Monitor the safety and well-being of young people, identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns in line with policies and procedures.

    Implement risk assessments and safety plans, ensuring the living environment is safe and supportive.

    Daily Living Support:

    Support young people with day-to-day tasks, such as maintaining a clean and tidy living space and attending appointments.

    Facilitate access to education, training, and employment opportunities, providing practical assistance where necessary.

    Compliance with Ofsted Standards:

    Ensure all work practices comply with Ofsted regulations and the organisation’s policies, maintaining high standards of care and support.

    Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans, reviewing progress and making adjustments as needed.

    Record Keeping and Reporting:

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, incidents, and progress in accordance with organisational policies.

    Prepare reports and contribute to regular reviews, ensuring that young people's views and achievements are clearly documented.

    Team Collaboration:

    Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support tailored to each young person’s needs.

    Participate in team meetings, training, and supervision sessions to continuously improve service delivery.

    Policy Adherence:

    Adhere to policies on drugs, alcohol, behaviour management, and safeguarding, ensuring young people are aware of expectations and consequences.

    Respect the privacy and dignity of young people, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

    Advocacy and Rights:

    Advocate for the rights and needs of young people, supporting them to have their voices heard in decisions that affect their lives.

    Provide information on access to advocacy services and the local offer for care leavers.

    Promoting Positive Behaviour:

    Model and encourage positive behaviour, setting clear boundaries and providing constructive feedback.

    Support young people in managing conflicts and developing coping strategies for difficult situations.

    Person Specification

    Essential:

    Experience working with young people, preferably within a supported accommodation or similar setting.

    Understanding of the challenges faced by young people transitioning to independence.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust.

    Ability to manage challenging behaviour and respond calmly to crises.

    Knowledge of safeguarding principles and practices.

    Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

    Desirable:

    Qualifications in youth work, social care, or a related field.

    QCF level 3, working towards or commitment to completing.

    Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and standards for supported accommodation.

    First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, or similar certifications.
