Fabrication Shop Supervisor

Fabrication Supervisor – Structural Steel – Bury – Permanent – 37 Hours

Fabrication Supervisor required for a permanent role with a growing structural steel fabrication company in Bury.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, experienced supervisor to lead a shift fabrication team, ensure safe and efficient production, and contribute to the ongoing development of a modern manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and motivate the entire shift fabrication team; take responsibility for all manufacturing activity on site.

*

Ensure procedures are adhered to by all shop floor operatives during fabrication activities.

*

Assess fabrication tasks for risk and ensure safe systems of work are in place before work begins.

*

Ensure plant, materials, and equipment are available to meet operational demands safely and efficiently.

*

Train and support new starters, apprentices, and shift personnel, ensuring competence in production tasks.

*

Maintain all documentation as required by company Health & Safety policy, including permits to work.

*

Communicate shift activities with production management, foremen, and operational staff to resolve problems.

*

Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork and check sheets are completed correctly and authorised.

Candidate Requirements

*

Strong fabrication and welding experience within a structural steelwork manufacturing environment.

*

Proven experience in supervisory and people management roles.

*

Ability to interpret production and logistical documentation including loading specifications.

*

Competent in basic IT skills for documentation and reporting.

*

Engaging communicator with the ability to build collaborative relationships with shop floor operatives and office staff.

*

Self-motivated, resilient, and able to work on own initiative while paying attention to detail.

*

Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines and customer requirements.

*

Enthusiastic and proactive team player who contributes to the development of the team and business.

Hours & Pay

*

37 hours per week – Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 16:45
