How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A Weighbridge Assistant at a scrap metal yard supports the weighbridge operator and helps manage vehicle movements, documentation, and compliance. The role is administrative but also operational, as it sits at the centre of site traffic and material control.

    Here’s what the duties typically include:

    🚛 Vehicle & Weighing Operations

    *

    Assisting with weighing incoming and outgoing vehicles (scrap deliveries and collections)

    *

    Recording gross, tare, and net weights accurately

    *

    Checking vehicle details (registration numbers, company name, material type)

    *

    Issuing weighbridge tickets and ensuring copies are filed correctly

    *

    Directing drivers to correct unloading/loading areas

    📋 Administration & Record Keeping

    *

    Inputting weight data into the site system (e.g., ScrapIT, Weighsoft, or internal systems)

    *

    Filing delivery notes, transfer notes, and purchase documentation

    *

    Matching tickets to invoices

    *

    Maintaining daily weighbridge logs

    *

    Supporting end-of-day reporting

    ♻️ Compliance & Documentation (Very Important in Scrap Yards)

    *

    Checking Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs) or Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes

    *

    Verifying supplier/customer details

    *

    Ensuring materials match descriptions

    *

    Assisting with environmental compliance records

    *

    Reporting discrepancies in loads (contamination, incorrect grades, etc.)

    👷 Yard & Operational Support

    *

    Communicating with crane operators, banksmen, and yard supervisors

    *

    Coordinating vehicle flow to avoid congestion

    Monitoring site traffic and ensuring safe movement

    Reporting unsafe behaviour or non-compliance
