How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

As well as developing new build solutions with OEMs, Voith Turbo Limited offers full aftermarket support to our customers by way of spare parts supply as well as repair and overhaul services at our local workshop or at the customer location via our highly skilled workshop and field service workforce.

The workshop in Croydon is split into overhaul cells for each product type and the mechanical and electrical fitters who work in these cells carry out the full strip down, inspection, survey, assembly and test of units such as gearboxes, fluid couplings, rail transmissions and cooling systems, rail couplers and marine products.

As part of an expansion in output over the next 3 years a number of Mechanical Fitter roles are required at varying levels. The mechanical fitter role has the following core responsibilities:

    * Working to precise specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tolerances using measuring tools like calipers and micrometers.

    * Full understanding of correct assembly techniques, for example torque tightening methods, shrink fits etc.

    * Ability to complete technical documentation clearly and accurately as work progresses

    * Take responsibility for the day-to-day basic maintenance tasks on the equipment within the cell

    * To perform other duties as assigned from time to time

    * As some of the product worked on is for regulated industries such as rail, full compliance to national drugs and alcohol testing programs is mandatory.

    Suitable candidates will have:

    * Mechanical aptitude as well as significant experience of working in an engineering environment is essential

    * Preferably time-served apprentice trained, or other relevant qualification

    * A working knowledge of safety systems such as Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments will be advantageous

Salary level and contract type will depend on level of experience
