How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position: Welder/Fabricator

    HSB Technical Ltd is a specialist recruiter within the Power & Propulsion, Shipbuilding, Shipping & Energy, and Aerospace sectors. We have a number of permanent and contract vacancies for multiple businesses across the UK and overseas.

    The below job description will outline this position of: Welder/Fabricator

    Typically, this person will be responsible for carrying out high-quality welding and fabrication work across a range of marine structures and components. They will follow engineering drawings, work to precise measurements, and ensure all work is completed to shipbuilding industry standards, contributing to the construction, repair, and maintenance of vessels.

    HSB Technical’s client is a very established and well-regarded business entity.

    Duties and Responsibilities of the Welder/Fabricator:

    •Carry out MIG and TIG welding on a variety of steel materials used in shipbuilding.
    •Fabricate and assemble marine structures, sections, and components to specification.
    •Read, understand, and work from engineering drawings and technical instructions.
    •Ensure welds meet required quality, strength, and dimensional standards.
    •Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, cutting tools, and measuring equipment.
    •Work safely in a busy shipyard environment, including inside vessels and confined spaces.
    •Contribute to vessel construction, repair, and modification projects.
    •Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safe working practices in all work areas.

    Qualifications and Requirements for the Welder/Fabricator:
    •Proven experience as a Welder/Fabricator within shipbuilding, marine engineering, or heavy industry.
    •Strong competency in MIG and TIG welding on all steel types.
    •Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    •Experience working to high safety and quality standards.
    •Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications or codes (advantageous but not essential).
    •Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
