How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

A growing industrial contractor is looking to appoint an E&I Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of complex electrical and instrumentation (E&I) projects across the UK. This is a permanent role working closely with Project Managers and senior commercial leadership on fast‑paced, technically demanding industrial schemes.
    The Role

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Carrying out detailed take‑offs from construction drawings, recording and managing changes throughout the project lifecycle
    * Monitoring site progress and ensuring delays are identified, recorded and communicated, including cause & effect analysis
    * Preparing and submitting early warnings, variations and change events for works outside agreed scope
    * Identifying and managing commercial and contractual risks, maintaining a clear and current risk position
    * Producing monthly commercial reports and maintaining full control of project cost and value
    * Supporting contract reviews by providing accurate, relevant commercial data to project leadership teams
    * Monitoring earned value, analysing weekly spend versus earned value and highlighting variances
    * Supporting construction handover meetings and project close‑out activities
    * Working with the Project Manager to prepare and manage project budgets, updating forecasts as required
    * Preparing and maintaining cash flow forecasts, analysing timing of costs and revenues
    * Monitoring overall project performance and supporting delivery teams with commercial insight
    * Mentoring junior commercial staff where applicable
    * Liaising with legal representatives when required to address contractual or commercial issues
    * Proactively protecting margin and ensuring maximum profitability across projects under your control
    * Compiling monthly reports for the Commercial Manager
    * Ensuring recovery of loss and expense claims where applicable, in line with contract conditions
    * Highlighting areas where target cost or sales are not being achieved and proposing corrective actions
    * Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required
    What We’re Looking For
    Essential:
-Degree in Quantity Surveying and/or Electrical Engineering
-Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the E&I contracting environment
-Strong technical and commercial understanding of electrical and instrumentation installation projects
-Experience across contract development, award, administration and close‑out on multi‑discipline projects
-Confident preparing MTOs and compiling actual construction measures
-Strong working knowledge of FIDIC, ICE or similar contract forms
-High level of commercial awareness with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word
-Eligible to work in the UK
    Desirable:
-Electrical or E&I trade / technical background
-Experience working for recognised industrial or international contracting organisations
    What’s On Offer
    * Permanent role within a growing industrial contractor
    * Long‑term pipeline of E&I projects
    * Exposure to technically complex industrial environments
