Deputy Headteacher – Specialist School (Autism & SEMH)

Salary £57,000 - £67,000
We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious Deputy Headteacher to join a specialist independent school, supporting young people with Autism and SEMH needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced senior leader ready to play a key role in shaping the direction of a growing and evolving provision.

The Opportunity
As Deputy Headteacher, you will work closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team to:
- Support the day-to-day running of the school
- Lead on key areas such as quality of education, behaviour, or inclusion
- Help embed a consistent, positive culture across the staff team
- Drive high standards in teaching, learning, and pupil outcomes
- Support staff development, coaching, and performance management
- Contribute to the strategic development of the school
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Headteacher in the overall leadership and management of the school
- This role holds teaching responsibilities
- Lead and model outstanding practice in teaching and learning
- Promote a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for all pupils
- Line manage staff and support their professional development
- Contribute to safeguarding, compliance, and regulatory standards
- Lead on school improvement priorities and ensure their effective implementation
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has senior leadership experience within a specialist, SEND, or alternative provision setting
- Has strong knowledge of Autism and SEMH needs
- Is passionate about improving outcomes for young people with complex needs
- Is a confident and supportive leader, able to motivate and develop others
- Demonstrates resilience, adaptability, and a solution-focused mindset
- Must have QTS
