How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Manchester

    Morson Vital have an excellent opportunity for a CEM who has strong working knowledge with OLE and Lineside Civils.

    About the Role
    We are seeking an experienced and highly competent OLE & Lineside Civils Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) to lead engineering assurance and delivery across rail infrastructure projects. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring that all Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) and associated civils works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest technical standards.

    Key Responsibilities/Requirements:
    🔺 Act as the Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) in accordance with rail industry standards.
    🔺 Provide engineering leadership across OLE and lineside civils disciplines.
    🔺 Ensure all works comply with relevant standards (e.g. Network Rail standards, CDM Regulations).
    🔺 Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
    🔺 Oversee design reviews, approvals, and technical submissions.
    🔺 Ensure robust engineering assurance processes are implemented and maintained.
    🔺 Interface with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to ensure successful delivery.
    🔺 Identify and manage engineering risks and opportunities.
    🔺 Support project planning, resource allocation, and delivery milestones.

    Essential Requirements
    🔺 Proven experience as a CEM within the UK rail industry.
    🔺 Strong background in OLE (Overhead Line Equipment) and lineside civils works.
    🔺 In-depth knowledge of rail standards, engineering processes, and compliance requirements.
    🔺 Demonstrable experience managing engineering teams on complex infrastructure projects.
