How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: English Teacher
    Location: Slough, Berkshire
    Salary: Competitive
    Contract: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent (dependent on performance)
    Start Date: After Easter Break

    About the Role
    We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Slough. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to make a real impact within a supportive and forward-thinking department. The role is offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with the potential to secure a permanent position following a successful initial period.

    We welcome applications from experienced teachers, early career teachers (ECTs), and unqualified teachers with strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for inspiring young people.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5, depending on experience)

    Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners

    Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement

    Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and departmental resources

    Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and maintain high teaching standards

    Participate in parent evenings, staff meetings, and wider school life

    About You
    You will be a passionate and motivated English teacher with strong subject knowledge and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative approach.

    Essential Requirements

    A degree in English or a related subject

    Experience teaching English at secondary level (including placements)

    Strong classroom management skills

    A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

    Desirable

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

    Experience teaching English Literature and Language at GCSE

    Familiarity with the current UK curriculum

    Ability to teach A-Level English
