How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Youth Mentor – SEMH School – Hackney Location – ASAP Start

    ***Youth Mentor required for SEMH School

    ***Youth Mentor required for Hackney location

    ***Youth Mentor required to support students with SEMH and challenging behaviour

    ***Youth Mentor must have at least 1 years experience working with young people

    ***Team Teach desirable but not essential for Youth Mentor role

    The Role – Youth Mentor

    This SEMH school is looking for a committed and resilient Youth Mentor to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, many of whom may present with challenging behaviours. The successful Youth Mentor will work closely with young people on a 1:1 and small group basis, building trusting relationships, encouraging engagement in learning, and supporting the development of positive behaviour and effective coping strategies.

    Working in partnership with teaching staff and external professionals, the Youth Mentor will contribute to the implementation of behaviour support plans, help to de-escalate challenging situations, and promote a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. This Youth Mentor role requires patience, empathy, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

    The School – Youth Mentor

    This specialist SEMH provision supports children and young people from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5, all of whom have social, emotional, and mental health needs. The setting provides both boys and girls with opportunities to access a broad and engaging curriculum, including a range of vocational subjects, within a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

    The school is committed to promoting a culture of respect, resilience, and positive relationships, helping students to build confidence and develop into independent, purposeful young people. Supported by a skilled and dedicated staff team, there is a strong emphasis on equipping learners with the social, emotional, and practical skills they need to succeed and move forward positively into their next stage of education, training, or employment.
