How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor | Aberdeen | Civils & Utilities
    Looking for a Quantity Surveyor role where you can take real ownership of projects, rather than just reporting into layers of management?
    This opportunity is with a well-established, family-run civil engineering contractor delivering projects across the North of Scotland, including civils, HDD, multi-utilities and renewable infrastructure.
    What you’ll be doing
    You’ll take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from award through to final account, working closely with operational teams on live sites.
    Your role will include:
    * Managing project costs, valuations, and variations throughout delivery
    * Preparing and submitting applications for payment
    * Procuring and managing subcontractors
    * Monitoring project performance and reporting on commercial position
    * Identifying risks and opportunities across projects
    * Supporting site and project teams with commercial decision-making
    This is a hands-on role where you’ll be closely involved in how projects are delivered day-to-day.
    What you’ll need
    * Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities, or groundworks
    * Ability to manage projects commercially from start through to final account
    * Strong communication skills working with site teams, clients, and subcontractors
    * Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
    You’ll likely have at least 3+ years’ experience in a QS role, but the level can flex depending on your background.
    The role
    * Supporting a mix of civils, HDD, utilities and renewable infrastructure projects
    * Working within a close-knit commercial and operational team
    * Opportunity to take real ownership and responsibility on projects
    Salary & package
    The salary will range from £45,000 – £58,000 depending on experience.
    In addition, you’ll receive:
    * Company car or car allowance
    * Private healthcare
    * Annual bonus (linked to company and individual performance)
    * Flexible holiday scheme
    * Employee Assistance Programme
    About the business
    The business is a growing civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation across the North of Scotland. They deliver a wide range of projects, from local infrastructure works through to larger national schemes across utilities and renewable sectors.
    They operate with a practical, hands-on approach, giving employees the opportunity to be directly involved in project delivery and decision-making.
    Interested?
    A clear overview of your project experience and sector background is all that’s needed. Your application will be reviewed directly by the hiring team
