How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Construction Planner to bring structure, consistency, and best practice to planning across our projects. This is a new role in the business, created to support our growth and improve programme quality across all live and upcoming schemes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring project programmes from pre-construction through to completion.

This is a key role within the business, working closely with Pre-Construction, Commercial, and Operational teams to ensure robust planning and successful project delivery.

This is an opportunity to shape and standardise the planning function within the business.

    What you’ll do

    * Develop tender programmes and phasing plans using Asta Powerproject

    * Work closely with Pre-construction and construction teams to produce competitive and realistic project timelines

    * Build logic‑linked, realistic programmes with clear sequencing and milestones

    * Identify key project risks and opportunities during tender stage

    * Assist in logistics planning and sequencing of works

    * Prepare detailed construction programmes (including critical path analysis)

    * Monitor and update project schedules throughout the project lifecycle

    * Track progress against programme and identify potential delays

    * Produce regular progress reports for internal and client review meetings

    * Advise site teams on sequencing, resource allocation, and recovery strategies

    * Support the preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims where required

    * Introduce and maintain consistent planning processes, templates and reporting

    * Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers, Subcontractors, and Clients

    * Attend site progress meetings and planning workshops

    * Ensure subcontractor programmes align with the master schedule

    What you’ll bring

    * Proven experience as a Planner within a construction or engineering contractor environment

    * Sound knowledge of construction sequencing and methodology

    * Ability to plan construction projects from first principles

    * Proficiency in planning software (e.g., Asta Powerproject, Microsoft Project)

    * Experience working on projects typically valued between £2m–£10m

    * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    * Excellent communication and reporting abilities

    * Full UK driving licence

    Desirable:

    * Experience in NEC and JCT forms of contract

    * Construction-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)

    * Membership of a professional body (e.g. CIOB) (or prepared to work towards)

The ideal candidate brings a structured, methodical way of working and approaches challenges with a proactive, solution‑driven mindset. They demonstrate strong commercial awareness and are comfortable operating both independently and within a collaborative team environment. Confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels is essential, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining excellent time‑management skills.
