How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Flexible Working: 4–5 Days per Week | 1-Term Contract (Potential to Extend)

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing special school, part of a multi-academy trust, which opened in September 2020.

    Grass Roots are supporting a client in their search for an inspirational Teacher with a passion for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and a creative, innovative approach to delivering the curriculum. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on students’ learning and development.

    We are seeking a motivated and determined individual who is committed to ensuring students make meaningful progress while enhancing their overall educational experience.

    The Role

    * Flexible working options: 4 or 5 days per week

    * Initial contract: 1 term

    * Subjects: PSHE and basic ICT

    * Potential for a long-term position for the right candidate

    About the School

    The school supports young people aged 8–16 with a wide range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils are also on the autistic spectrum, and some may display challenging behaviours.

    The school serves Ipswich and the surrounding areas of Suffolk and is part of a wider network of special schools, working collaboratively with partner settings. There are also exciting plans to expand, including the opening of a new special school in Romford.

    Support & Development

    You will be supported by experienced leaders in special education who provide ongoing guidance and leadership. The school offers excellent opportunities for professional development, including:

    * Access to high-quality training

    * Opportunities for research and collaboration

    * Teacher development across phases and settings

    How to Apply

    For more information, to arrange a visit, or to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact David at Grass Roots via email or phone.

    Closing date: 17 April 2026

    Please note:

    * Applications may be reviewed and interviews conducted on a rolling basis

    * The school reserves the right to appoint before the closing date

    * Applications must be submitted online via the careers website before the deadline

    We strongly encourage early applications
