Overview
CBS Butler are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with deep RF and communications expertise to lead the design and delivery of advanced defence systems. This role focuses on RF sensing, communications, and electronic warfare solutions, with responsibility for technical leadership across complex, multidisciplinary programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as System Design Authority for RF-based systems across the full lifecycle
* Lead system architecture, requirements definition, and design trade-offs
* Provide technical leadership across RF, DSP, hardware, and software teams
* Drive development of RF communications, sensor, and electronic warfare capabilities
* Oversee integration, verification, and validation of complex RF systems
* Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks across programmes
Required Experience
* Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
* Significant Systems Engineering experience in RF, communications, or radar domains
* Strong understanding of RF systems, antennas, propagation, and signal chains
* Experience delivering complex systems across the full engineering lifecycle
* Proven technical leadership and ability to operate as a design authority
* Background in defence, aerospace, or secure government environments
Desirable Skills
* Electronic Warfare experience (ES, EA, ECM, ESM)
* Experience with SDR, DSP, and RF signal processing
* Knowledge of radar systems, sensors, and PNT technologies
Salary description
£65000.00 - £85000.00 per year
