Job Title: Assistant Planner
Location: Stevenage
Reporting To: Pre-Construction Director
Salary: Up to £50,000 + Car Allowance + Package
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Planner to join a dynamic pre-construction team based in Stevenage, supporting the successful delivery of new build projects across the education and healthcare sectors. This role offers excellent exposure to complex schemes from early-stage planning through to project delivery, working closely with senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, development, and maintenance of detailed project programmes
- Support tender planning activities, including programme development, phasing, and methodology input
- Work alongside the Pre-Construction Director and wider team to develop realistic and achievable construction schedules
- Monitor project progress and provide updates, highlighting risks, delays, and opportunities
- Contribute to the production of logistics plans and sequencing strategies
- Review subcontractor programmes and integrate them into the main programme
- Support the use of planning software (e.g., Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, or similar)
- Assist in reporting progress to internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in site visits to understand project constraints and progress
Requirements
- Previous experience in a planning or construction-related role (site, engineering, or project coordination experience considered)
- Understanding of construction processes, particularly within new build environments
- Interest or experience in education and/or healthcare projects is advantageous
- Familiarity with planning software (training can be provided)
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
