How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor
    Romsey, Hampshire
    Salary £65,000 + Car Allowance £5000 + Pension + Bonus + 25 Days Holiday
    Blaymires Recruitment is representing the UK’s leading fire and façade consultancy, based near Romsey, who are searching for a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team.
    The consultancy works closely with clients to understand and manage cladding and internal combustibility risks, defects, and remedial issues. They are currently overseeing the refurbishment of multiple residential building façades and work with a wide range of clients, including social housing providers, landlords, private consortiums, and management companies.
    This is primarily an office-based role, with site visits required. The successful candidate must be able to drive.
    You will be responsible for managing cladding upgrade and remedial works to existing buildings, including contractor procurement, cost control, and final account management.
    Responsibilities
    * Inviting contractors to tender and managing the tender process
    * Placing orders and administering subcontractor accounts
    * Monitoring project costs and financial reporting
    * Visiting sites to assess progress and manage commercial aspects
    * Managing applications for payment and contractor payments
    * Preparing and agreeing final accounts
    This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor from either a Main Contracting or Consultancy background.
    Requirements
    * Minimum 3 years’ Quantity Surveying experience
    * Background within Main Contracting or Consultancy
    * Strong knowledge of Scope of Works documentation and Bills of Quantities
    * Experience managing tender processes and subcontract accounts
    * Strong negotiation skills within a construction environment
    * Excellent organisation and cost management skills
    * Experience managing invoices and payment processes
    * Good understanding of JCT forms of contract
