How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Originally named Great British Nuclear, Great British Energy - Nuclear (GBE‑N) is an arm's length body of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. We support the development and deployment of new nuclear technologies in Great Britain, playing a key role in energy security and the delivery of net‑zero carbon emissions.

Our work focuses on fostering innovation, facilitating investment and coordinating activity across the nuclear sector to help build a resilient and sustainable energy future.

In 2023, GBE‑N launched the technology selection process for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). SMRs have the potential to be quicker to deploy and more cost‑effective than traditional nuclear power plants due to their smaller size, factory‑based modular manufacturing and flexible deployment options. In June 2025, Rolls‑Royce SMR was selected as the preferred bidder following this process.

GBE‑N is focused on delivering at pace through a supportive, collaborative and inclusive culture that values equality, diversity and respect. We draw on extensive nuclear expertise across the organisation and work closely with industry partners to unlock public and private investment, support site development, and grow manufacturing capability and skills.
