How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently working with a leading organisation within the power distribution sector to recruit a skilled Field Service Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working on-site, delivering high-quality service, and being part of a dynamic and growing team.

    As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the installation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of high voltage equipment across various customer sites. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a field-based environment and is comfortable travelling as part of their role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Carry out installation, commissioning, and servicing of high voltage equipment
    Perform routine maintenance and emergency fault finding on customer sites
    Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimise downtime
    Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards and industry regulations
    Provide technical support and guidance to clients when required
    Complete detailed service reports and documentation
    The Ideal Candidate

    Proven experience working with high voltage equipment (essential)
    Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
    Ability to work independently on-site and manage workload effectively
    Full UK driving licence
    Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required
    Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
    Comfortable working in a field-based role
    Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
    Flexible and adaptable to varying site requirements
