How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Property Assistant - Band 4 (General Industrial)
    Location: Depot, Darlington (DL1 4QB)
    Pay Rate: £13.05 per hour
    Job Type: Temporary (12-month contract)
    Start Date: 30 March 2026
    Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00 (37 hours per week)

    About the Role
    Darlington Borough Council is looking to recruit a Property Assistant to support the Public Building Repairs Service. This role involves coordinating maintenance and repair appointments, providing administrative support, and ensuring a high-quality service is delivered to both internal and external customers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assist in coordinating maintenance and repair appointments for public buildings
    Process and manage high volumes of repair requests, including raising and booking jobs
    Oversee repair requests to ensure timely completion
    Accurately record and report timesheet data for finance reconciliation
    Investigate and resolve outstanding job tickets using internal ICT systems
    Handle enquiries from suppliers and internal stakeholders, aiming to resolve at first point of contact
    Support purchasing processes and maintain accurate records
    Ensure excellent customer service is delivered, reducing repeat enquiries
    Key Skills & Experience

    Previous administrative experience, ideally within property, maintenance, or local authority environments
    Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
    Good attention to detail, particularly with data entry and reporting
    Experience using IT systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
