The Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects from procurement through to final account. The role is designed to develop a strong understanding of cost control, subcontractor management, valuations and project profitability while working closely with site teams, suppliers and clients.
This is a development role suited to someone early in their QS career who wants structured exposure to real commercial responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Cost Management
* Assist with preparation of project budgets and cost plans
* Monitor project costs and maintain cost value reconciliation (CVR)
* Track variations, delays and additional works
* Support the preparation of monthly cost reports
* Assist in financial forecasting and profit tracking
* Review labour, plant and material costs against budget
Subcontractor Procurement
* Issue enquiries and obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
* Analyse and compare tender returns
* Assist in preparing subcontractor comparisons and recommendations
* Draft and issue subcontract orders
* Maintain approved supplier database
Valuations & Payments
* Assist in preparation of interim valuations and applications for payment
* Measure works completed on site
* Assess subcontractor payment applications
* Prepare payment notices and certificates
* Assist with final accounts and retention release
Contract Administration
* Support management of contracts (typically JCT/NEC)
* Maintain project documentation and change records
* Track and log variations
* Assist with contractual notices and communication
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar (or working towards)

£45000.00 - £60000.00 per year
