    Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead a dedicated CRSTS commercial workstream in and around Bath city centre, with further schemes planned on the outskirts of Bath in 2027.

    About the Opportunity

Our client is successfully delivering three live civils schemes under their Highways Term Maintenance Contract (NEC3 TSC), with individual project values ranging from £500k to £3m. The works include footways, carriageway surfacing, paving, drainage and associated highway infrastructure, all funded through the CRSTS (City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements) programme.

Following a recent internal restructure, the CRSTS projects are being established as a standalone commercial workstream with an anticipated yearly turnover of £6m to £9m. This has created an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to head up the function and play a key role in the continued success of these high-profile schemes.

You will be supported by an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor and will report directly into the senior commercial leadership team.

    Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial ownership of the CRSTS workstream, including but not limited to:

Production and management of timely, accurate cost reports and CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations)
Robust forecasting, budgeting and cash-flow management
Client-facing commercial reporting and relationship management
Subcontract procurement, negotiation, valuation and final account management
Administration of the NEC3 TSC Option C contract environment
Risk identification, mitigation and value engineering opportunities
Monthly commercial reviews and early warning notifications
Close collaboration with project delivery teams, planners and site management

    Requirements & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on civils or highways projects
Strong working knowledge of NEC3 (ideally TSC Option C) forms of contract
Demonstrable expertise in cost reporting, CVRs, forecasting and client/subcontractor commercial management
Experience of delivering multiple concurrent projects with values in the £500k–£3m+ range
Excellent analytical, numerical and IT skills (including Excel and commercial software)
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work under pressure
Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. RICS, CIOB or equivalent) would be advantageous but are not essential if you can demonstrate substantial relevant experience.

    What Our Client Offers

A high-visibility role with genuine autonomy and the chance to shape a growing workstream
Competitive salary and benefits package (dependent on experience)
Opportunity to work on strategically important, funded infrastructure schemes in an attractive location
Long-term career development within a well-established highways delivery business
Support from an experienced Assistant QS and wider commercial team
This is a permanent opportunity based primarily in the Bath area, with site visits across the local programme.

If you are a commercially strong, confident Senior Quantity Surveyor with highways/civils experience and you are looking for your next career move in the South West, we would be delighted to discuss this role with you in complete confidence.

Please send your CV together with a short covering note outlining your relevant experience, or contact me directly for an initial confidential discussion.
