How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    DT Technician - Secondary School - Brent - April 2026 Start - Full-Time

    Are you an experienced DT Technician or someone with a strong practical background looking to support a dynamic secondary school environment?
    Are you organised, hands-on, and passionate about supporting creative and technical learning?

    Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Brent seeking a DT Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting practical lessons and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment for students.

    DT Technician - Role Overview

    As a DT Technician, you will support the smooth running of the Design & Technology department across KS3 and KS4. Your responsibilities will include:

    Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons
    Supporting teachers and students during workshop-based activities
    Maintaining and organising machinery, tools, and stock
    Ensuring all equipment is safe, clean, and in good working order
    Assisting with demonstrations and practical tasks where required
    Monitoring and managing stock levels, placing orders where necessary
    Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
    Supporting with risk assessments and safe working practices
    Maintaining a tidy, safe, and efficient workshop environment

    Requirements

    Previous experience working in a school or workshop environment (desirable)
    Strong practical skills (woodwork, metalwork, or resistant materials preferred)
    Good understanding of health and safety procedures within a workshop setting
    Organised, proactive, and able to manage workload effectively
    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    Strong communication skills and a willingness to support students
    Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
