Based in Hereford | Full-Time | £55,000 - £65,000 DOE + Benefits

This isn't a corporate number-crunching role buried in a procurement chain. This is a rare chance to be the commercial backbone of a highly regarded regional contractor, working directly alongside senior leadership on a genuinely varied portfolio of projects across Herefordshire and the wider counties.

Our client has been delivering quality construction across the region for decades. They've built their reputation the right way, through skilled craftsmanship, long-standing client relationships, and a tight-knit team that takes real pride in what they do. Projects range from sensitive listed building restorations to bespoke high-end new builds, school upgrades, and commercial fitouts. No two months look the same.

Following internal progression, they're now looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to take ownership of the commercial function, from first enquiry right through to final account. You'll have genuine influence here, working closely with the MD and site teams rather than feeding into a faceless hierarchy.

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator Job Overview

Manage works from enquiry and tender stage through to final account and handover
Prepare estimates, tenders, and cost plans for projects ranging from £5k to £4m
Provide procurement advice and negotiate best value deals with suppliers and subcontractors
Monitor budgets, variations, and financial reporting
Visit sites to assess progress and ensure cost control
Liaise with clients, site teams, and internal staff to support successful delivery

What We're Looking For

Minimum 5+ years' experience as a QS / Estimator (degree not essential)
Strong practical knowledge of construction methods and materials
Confident with pricing and quoting work for review / approval by senior management
Proficient with spreadsheets / estimating software
Full UK driving licence and local knowledge of the Herefordshire area preferred
Down to earth, hands on approach, able to work closely with a family run management team

Salary & Package

£55,000 - £65,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)

Flexible working available (1-2 days from home as required)
