How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Document Controller

    Harlow, Essex | Full-time | Site-based

If you are tired of document control being treated like a back-office admin function, this is the sort of role where it genuinely matters.

On a data centre project, poor information management does not just create frustration. It affects programme, quality, coordination, compliance and handover. This role is for someone who understands that keeping drawings, registers, transmittals and QA records under control is a core part of successful delivery, not an afterthought.

You will be joining a project team delivering a technically demanding scheme in Harlow, working across mechanical, electrical, building and civil packages. The environment is fast-moving, heavily coordinated and detail-sensitive, so the role suits someone who is methodical, organised and confident dealing with multiple stakeholders while keeping standards high.

From project start through to completion, you will take ownership of document control consistency across the job. You will manage the flow of information, maintain traceability, support the wider team in keeping records accurate and current, and help reduce the risk of the project being delayed or compromised by poor document management.

    The opportunity

This is a site-based role within the projects division, reporting into senior project leadership and working closely with delivery teams, suppliers and third parties. It will suit a Document Controller who likes being close to the job, understands how site teams actually work, and wants to be part of a project where good control of information has a direct impact on performance.

It is also a strong move for someone who wants more than simple filing and issuing. You will be involved in the wider coordination of project documentation, monitoring review and approval progress, supporting handover and close-out, and helping maintain the structure and discipline that complex projects rely on.

    What you will be doing

Managing document control processes and procedures across the project from initiation through to completion

Maintaining the Document Management System and ensuring all documents are correctly numbered, issued, reviewed, recorded, archived and traceable

Processing incoming and outgoing documentation, including internal distribution, supplier and third-party communication, and client transmittals

Ensuring the latest approved drawings and documents are distributed correctly and controlled copies are available where needed

Maintaining project folders, registers and filing structures, including the Master Document Register

Monitoring document review and approval progress in line with agreed schedules and producing overdue reports where required

Supporting the preparation, collation and issue of reports, registers and QA documentation for client submission

Liaising with project teams, suppliers and external parties to keep the flow of documentation consistent, accurate and efficient

What they will be looking for

At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Document Controller role within engineering or construction

A strong grasp of document management processes within live project environments

Previous experience using Visio and Conject or 4Projects

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and confidence using project and business systems

Someone who is organised, proactive and capable of keeping control of detail without losing sight of the wider project picture

A professional communicator who can work well with project teams, planners, suppliers and clients

    Why this role stands out

This is not a role where you sit on the edge of the project and react to what lands in your inbox. You will be part of the engine room of delivery, helping a major project team stay coordinated, compliant and properly controlled.

For the right person, it is a chance to step into a serious building services environment where document control is respected for what it is: one of the disciplines that keeps a complex project moving.
