Cnc Machinist

At Contek, we're proud to represent a client based in Dudley, specializing in reactive and planned mechanical engineering services across various industries including food, automotive, and nuclear sectors. As our representation expands, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Turner and/or CNC Miller to join the team on a permanent basis.
Working Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00pm
Position Overview: We are looking for a CNC Turner AND/OR CNC Miller who is proficient in programming, setting up, and operating CNC Mills 3 axis and/or 2 axis lathes). The ideal candidate will have experience working with Prototrak (Lathes and Mills) and Heidenhain controls (Mills). They will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process, ensuring high-quality production and meeting strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
* Versed within reverse engineering and repairs within a mixture of medium to heavy environments.
* The ability to look at a repair project and decide on the best methods for work holding and machining.
* Select and install cutting tools, adjust tool offsets, and make necessary machine adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
* Interpret and modify CNC programs as needed to optimize machining processes and minimize cycle times.
* Perform regular machine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operations and prevent downtime.
* Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
* Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a CNC Miller and/or Turner with proficiency in programming, setting, and operating mills or lathes
* Proficiency with XYZ Prototrak or Heidenain controls is required.
* Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting parameters.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.
* Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
