How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CR8: Lead Technician

    Location: Slough

    Salary: £22.77 per hour

    Overview:

    First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Lead Technician on behalf of one of our clients.

    Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    To lead the mechanical engineering operation.
    Dealing with bus servicing, breakdowns, inspections and diagnosing faults, specifying the correct method and length of time it may take to repair.
    To be flexible in respect of working hours to ensure commitments to operational requirements are fulfilled.
    Remain up to date with any new engineering or health and safety legislation.
    To be fully up to date with individual bus history paying particular attention to reoccurring defects prior to carrying out the bus inspection.
    To be familiar with modern repair techniques and the use of electronic and mechanical diagnostic equipment (i.e. brake rolling road tester, smoke meter, headlight alignment tester, engine oil sampling and diagnostic laptop equipment).
    To be familiar with computerised engineering systems and the input and extraction of relevant data.
    40 hours per week, shifts to be discussed at interview.
    Skills and Qualifications:

    Minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (i.e. City & Guilds Level 1&2) in an engineering field.
    Capability to multi-skill within an engineering environment.
    Flexible approach to working hours.
    A PCV licence is desirable, ability to obtain a PCV licence is essential, our client will help you gain this qualification.
    Experience of working with buses, coaches and HGV vehicles.
