How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join a fast-paced, growing operation. This role would suit someone who can adapt to changing operational demands while maintaining high standards across compliance, service delivery, and team management.

    You’ll be leading a close-knit team, with a Transport Planner and three Administrators reporting directly into you, ensuring all client requirements are delivered in line with SLAs.

    The business specialises in liquid waste disposal, sewer clearing, septic tank maintenance, and hazardous waste removal, supported by a team experienced in industrial and hazardous waste handling.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Oversee the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and CPC regulations.

    * Manage and support the Transport Planner and admin team, driving performance and accountability.

    * Oversee and manage a fleet of approximately 45–50 vehicles, ensuring optimal utilisation, compliance, and operational efficiency.

    * Develop and improve routing strategies to reduce fuel usage, emissions, and overall costs.

    * Ensure effective planning of drivers across both scheduled and reactive work.

    * Take responsibility for fleet compliance, including maintenance schedules, inspections.

    * Act as the main point of escalation for customer queries or service issues.

    * Implement and manage emergency response procedures for incidents such as spills or vehicle breakdowns.

    * Maintain accurate transport records and ensure all regulatory and audit requirements are met.

    * Participate in the on-call rota to support out-of-hours operations.

    Working Hours:

    Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:30

    On-call: 1 in 3 / 4 weeks, paid at £650 per week

    Package open (DOE)

    Requirements:

    * Valid CPC (Transport Manager) qualification – essential

    * Previous experience within a similar industry (waste, utilities, environmental services or related) ideally but not essential.

    * Strong leadership experience, managing transport/planning teams

    * Good understanding of transport compliance and fleet operations
