How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Clerk of Works – Estates Capital, Backlog & Minor Works

    Multiple NHS Trusts – London & Home Counties
    £250–£350 per day | Outside IR35
    Contracts: 3, 6, or 12 months

    We are supporting several NHS Trusts across London and the Home Counties in the recruitment of experienced Clerk of Works professionals to oversee capital, backlog, and minor works programmes. These roles act as the client’s on-site representative, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Monitor construction, refurbishment, and maintenance works for quality, compliance, and adherence to specifications.

    * Provide assurance on contractor performance, workmanship, materials, and statutory compliance (HTMs, HBNs, Building Regulations, CDM).

    * Review drawings, technical documentation, RAMS, and design proposals.

    * Attend site meetings and produce detailed inspection, progress, and compliance reports.

    * Support safe systems of work, including permit-to-work, fire isolations and de‑isolations.

    * Maintain robust records including photographic evidence, snagging logs, and non‑conformance reports.

    * Assist with commissioning, handover, and defects rectification.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * Background in Clerk of Works, Estates, Engineering, or Technical Project roles within healthcare or the public sector.

    * Strong knowledge of building services (MEP), construction processes, and statutory / NHS compliance standards.

    * Excellent understanding of H&S, CDM, and quality assurance.

    * Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.

    * Confident communicator with strong reporting and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

    * IT literate (MS Office, CAFM/document management systems).

    Desirable

    * Existing Authorised Person (AP) or Responsible Person (RP) status.

    * Experience with NEC/JCT contracts.

    * Knowledge of sustainability, energy management, lifecycle planning
