How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Advanced Digital Systems & Storage Engineer (Band 5)

    Location: Hertfordshire (On-site)
    Sector: NHS
    Contract: Temporary (ASAP – April 2026)
    Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)

    We’re supporting a large and highly regarded NHS Trust in Hertfordshire to recruit an Advanced Digital Systems & Storage Engineer to join their Digital Infrastructure team on a temporary basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting critical healthcare systems within a complex, high-availability environment—where your work will directly contribute to frontline patient care.

    The Role

    As a senior technical specialist within the Digital team, you’ll provide 2nd and 3rd line support across a broad range of infrastructure services, ensuring systems remain secure, resilient, and fully operational.

    You’ll act as a key escalation point, working closely with internal IT teams and external suppliers to resolve issues, maintain performance, and support ongoing projects and improvements.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide 2nd/3rd line support for server, storage, and infrastructure systems

    * Administer and maintain Windows/Linux server environments

    * Support virtualisation platforms (VMware/Hyper-V)

    * Ensure robust backup, disaster recovery, and security processes are in place

    * Monitor system performance and carry out proactive maintenance and patching

    * Support Active Directory, user access, and permissions management

    * Assist with infrastructure projects, upgrades, and system implementations

    * Work closely with Service Desk to ensure timely resolution of incidents

    * Maintain accurate technical documentation

    * What We’re Looking For

    * Proven experience in a 3rd line / infrastructure engineering role (min. 3 years)

    * Strong knowledge of:

    * Windows Server &/or Linux

    * Virtualisation (VMware or Hyper-V)

    * Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

    * Backup, security, and patch management

    * Experience supporting enterprise-scale server environments

    * Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

    * Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders

    Desirable:

    * Experience within an NHS or healthcare environment

    * Knowledge of SCCM and application packaging

    * Relevant certifications (Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, ITIL)

    Why Apply?

    * Opportunity to work within a major NHS Trust supporting critical services

    * Exposure to large-scale, complex IT environments

    * Meaningful work that directly impacts patient care

    * Collaborative and forward-thinking digital team
