Job Overview
New Chapter Tuition is recruiting a dedicated Outreach Tutor to support children and young people across Newham who are unable to access mainstream education. You will work 1:1 with learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and those at risk of exclusion, delivering personalised tuition in community-based settings.
This is a rewarding, flexible role suited to experienced tutors, teachers, or education professionals with a trauma-informed and learner-centred approach.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 outreach tuition to learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and complex needs
* Provide tuition in homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provision settings across Newham
* Plan and adapt sessions to meet individual academic, emotional, and behavioural needs
* Re-engage disengaged learners using creative and flexible teaching strategies
* Build positive, professional relationships with learners and families
* Track progress and provide clear feedback to schools, parents/carers, and professionals
Essential Requirements
* Experience working with vulnerable, disengaged, or excluded learners
* Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, and/or anxiety
* Knowledge of the UK curriculum (primary or secondary)
* Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to work independently in community-based or alternative settings
Desirable
* Teaching qualification or tutoring experience
* Experience in outreach tuition, alternative provision, or SEND settings
* Local knowledge of Newham
