How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

At Bayman Atkinson Smythe Ltd, we’re excited to be supporting a business based in Bury, North West, in their search for a Temporary Shipping Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in supply chain or warehouse operations to join a busy and dynamic environment.

    THE JOB

The role involves supporting the daily logistics functions, ensuring the smooth flow of goods both inbound and outbound, and contributing to the efficient running of the warehouse. If you enjoy a varied role that keeps you active and organised, then this could be the perfect fit for you.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Prepare, pack, and label customer orders accurately and efficiently

Generate shipping labels, manifests, invoices, and related documentation

Coordinate courier bookings, collections, and monitor shipment tracking

Inspect outgoing goods for quality and accuracy prior to dispatch

Maintain up-to-date shipping records within systems or spreadsheets

Receive, check, and inspect inbound deliveries for damage and discrepancies

Assist with unloading deliveries safely using appropriate equipment

Accurately store goods in designated warehouse locations

Support stock replenishment, inventory counts, and cycle counting activities

Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and organisation of the warehouse and shipping areas

Help manage warehouse supplies, including packaging materials and equipment.

    THE PERSON

Experience in shipping, warehouse receiving, or general logistics roles

Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail

Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email, spreadsheets, and shipping systems

Physical ability to handle manual or mechanical unloading tasks

Existing forklift or pallet truck licences are a plus but not essential

This position offers standard working hours from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.30am to 4pm on Fridays, providing a good work-life balance. It’s a fantastic chance to gain hands-on logistics experience within a supportive company environment, with the opportunity to grow your skills and contribute to a busy warehouse team.

If you’re organised, proactive, and ready to take on this varied role, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note that we are only able to consider applications from those who are eligible to work in the UK and therefore do not require sponsorship
