    Specialist SEMH School |
    £100-£120 per day | Long-term to Permanent
    | Start Date: 13/04/26

    Long Term Futures are working with a specialist SEMH school in Derby (DE1) are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports pupils aged 5-16 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing personalised education and pastoral support to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. This is a rewarding opportunity for a positive, resilient individual to play a key role in supporting young people with additional needs, helping them to engage with education, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
    Support the delivery of engaging and differentiated lessons alongside the class teacher
    Implement behaviour strategies and support a structured environment with high expectations
    Help pupils regulate emotions, develop social skills, and engage positively in learning
    Support personalised learning pathways and access to appropriate accreditation
    Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
    Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environmentWhat We're Looking For

    A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs
    Experience working with pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs (school, AP, PRU, or similar)
    Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships
    A calm, patient, and resilient approach
    Ability to adapt to challenging situations and remain consistent
