    Job description

    Job Title: Mechanical Craft Person
    Job Type: Contract
    IR35 Status: Inside IR35
    Start Date: Subject to clearance
    Duration: 12 Months
    Pay Rate: Up to £30.38 PAYE
    Location: Preston
    Hybrid/Remote Working: On site role
    Hours of work: 8 &12.5 hour shifts patterns (full time)

    About the Role:
    We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technician to join our team in the nuclear sector. This is a shift-based role, requiring flexibility and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational performance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Operate, monitor, and maintain plant equipment in accordance with strict safety and regulatory standards.
    Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance to ensure plant reliability.
    Accurately record operational data and report any anomalies promptly.
    Work collaboratively with engineers and other team members to support continuous improvement initiatives.
    Adhere to all nuclear safety, environmental, and quality assurance requirements.

    Essential Requirements:

    Technical qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering.
    Previous experience in a regulated or high-hazard industry (nuclear, chemical, power generation preferred).
    Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
    Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as part of a rotating schedule.
    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    Be able to wear full personal protective equipment, including respiration protection.
    Required to undertake a disclosure and barring service (DBS) check
    Required to become monitored workers under the ionising radiations regulations

    Desirable:

    Knowledge of nuclear safety culture and regulatory frameworks.
    Experience with plant control systems and (url removed) National Security Vetting Status: BPSS clearance will be required of the success candidate.
