How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
    Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
    Contract: Temporary to Permanent

    Job Description:
    We are currently seeking a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to support primary aged students in a school setting in Bury. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including students who may have experienced trauma and present with challenging behaviours.

    You will work both in the classroom and 1:1 with students, helping to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Provide targeted support to students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

    * Support students within mainstream or specialist classroom settings

    * Assist with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies

    * Build positive, trusting relationships with students who may be disengaged from learning

    * Support students’ emotional wellbeing and personal development

    * Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN staff

    Essential Requirements:

    * Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or relevant transferable experience (e.g. youth work, care work, mental health support, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar)

    * Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and professional manner

    * High levels of resilience, patience, and emotional intelligence

    * Strong communication and teamwork skills

    * Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

    Desirable:

    * Previous experience in a primary school or behaviour unit in the UK

    * Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, behaviour support strategies, or SEN

    * Team Teach or other behaviour management training
