How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Location: Dalbeattie - Commutable from Dumfries, Castle Douglas, Barnbarroch

Are you an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer ready to take ownership of critical plant systems and accelerate your career across a complex, high-performing industrial environment?

This is your opportunity to step into a role where your electrical expertise directly impacts production, reliability, and continuous improvement across a large-scale, multi-process site. Joining the 5th largest timber company in the world, you'll be part of a business that is investing heavily in its UK operations-modernising equipment, upgrading infrastructure, and pushing for world-class engineering standards.

Due to sustained growth and major site development, they're looking for an Electrical Engineer who thrives in a plant environment-someone who enjoys fault finding under pressure, improving system performance, and expanding into a truly multi-skilled engineer.

Working alongside an experienced engineering team, you'll be hands-on with a wide range of industrial systems across sawmilling, timber treatment, and biomass energy operations. From maintaining and optimising PLC-controlled machinery to driving reliability improvements and reducing downtime, your role will be central to keeping the plant running at peak efficiency.

This isn't just a maintenance role-it's a platform to build long-term expertise in heavy industry. You'll benefit from structured training, exposure to diverse plant systems, and clear progression pathways within a global organisation that values its engineers.

If you're looking to future-proof your career, deepen your technical skillset, and play a key role in a modern industrial plant environment-this is the move.

    The Role

Repairing Mechanical, Pneumatic and Electromechanical Machinery.
Installation of machine parts such as valves, pumps, and motors.
Carrying out planned maintenance checks, finding and fixing any faults.
Responding to emergency breakdowns on our production lines.
    4 on 4 of Shift
    The Person

Electrical engineering background (any industrial or manufacturing environment)
Strong hands-on electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience
    Reference Number: BBBH(phone number removed)
