How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CMM Quality Inspector

We're recruiting for a CMM Quality Inspector on behalf of a well-established precision engineering business. They're looking for someone who knows their way around inspection, can spot a problem before it becomes everyone else's problem, and takes real pride in getting things right first time.

This is a hands-on quality role based in a busy engineering environment, working closely with production and engineering teams to make sure parts and assemblies meet spec. If you enjoy precision, problem-solving, and the quiet satisfaction of catching something that shouldn't have got through, this could be a good fit.

    What the job involves

This role is centred around inspection, measurement, and supporting quality standards across manufactured and bought-in parts. Day to day, you'll be involved in:

    Writing and maintaining CMM programmes
Supporting the use of automated inspection and measurement equipment
Carrying out first-off, in-process, and final inspection of parts and assemblies
Reviewing components against drawings and specifications
    Identifying and separating non-conforming parts
Working with engineering and production teams to resolve issues
Feeding back on recurring problems, bottlenecks, or anything likely to affect deadlines
Taking part in technical discussions around quality and process improvement
Keeping inspection records, documentation, and general housekeeping up to date
Supporting health and safety and general quality requirements across the site
Getting involved in other reasonable quality-related tasks when needed - because no engineering business has ever run exactly to planWhat they're looking for as CMM Quality Inspector

They need someone who is methodical, practical, and comfortable working in a fast-moving engineering environment. You'll need to be confident inspecting precision parts, reading drawings, and making judgement calls based on evidence rather than guesswork.

Essential experience and skills as CMM Quality Inspector

    You should have:

    Experience programming CNC CMM equipment
Experience working in an inspection or quality environment
A good understanding of machining processes, especially milling and turning
Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Experience using standard inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, plug gauges, and similar equipment
A solid grasp of engineering terminology and manufacturing methods
Good communication skills and the ability to deal with colleagues across different departments
Reasonable IT skills, including Word and Excel
Strong organisational skills and a tidy, methodical approach to your work
An understanding of health and safety in a manufacturing environmentUseful extras

These aren't deal-breakers, but they'd definitely be helpful:

    Experience with MCOSMOS
    Background in precision engineering
    Knowledge of assembly processes
    Experience with 3D CAD
Commercial awarenessThe kind of person who'll do well here

This role will suit someone who:

    Notices the detail others miss
Takes ownership of problems rather than walking past them
Can think logically and work through issues without needing everything spelled out
Is comfortable working under pressure without cutting corners
Can manage competing priorities and still keep standards high
Works well as part of a smaller team
Is happy speaking up in technical discussions
Keeps people informed rather than letting problems quietly grow legsA few final bits

This is a site-based role within a busy engineering business, so it would suit someone who likes being close to the product and the process rather than stuck at a distance from it.

As with most jobs in manufacturing, there will be times where priorities shift and people need to muck in. So a flexible attitude helps.
