How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Subcontractor / Manufacturer
    Location: Bedford
    Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 per annum
    Benefits

    The Role: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
    A hands‑on, varied position ideal for someone confident managing commercial duties within a specialist construction and manufacturing setting. Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of day‑to‑day QS responsibilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with contractual requirements.
    Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare, negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier contracts
    • Lead valuations, applications for payment and variations
    • Manage additional works, notices, payment queries and commercial correspondence
    • Review payment notices and ensure compliance with contractual timelines
    • Support tendering and procurement activities
    • Produce commercial reports and maintain accurate project records
    • Manage final accounts and assist with project close‑out
    • Provide wider commercial support to the Commercial Manager as required
    The Right Person
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying (construction or manufacturing)
    •• Confident preparing applications for payment and managing valuations
    • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
    • Must be eligible for SC Clearance (clean criminal record required)
    • Detail‑focused, proactive and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
