How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Trainee Field Service Engineer

    £30,000 - £35,000 (£34,400 After 6 Months) + Monday to Friday (8am-5pm, 38.75 Hours) + Early Finish Friday (8am-12:45pm) + Training + Progression + Company Van (EV) + Enhanced Overtime + No Call Out

    North Patch ( Commutable from: Carlisle, Penrith, Wigton, Workington, Whitehaven, Cockermouth, Brampton, Longtown, Maryport, Egremont, Silloth)

    Great opportunity for someone hands-on and technically minded looking to step into a Field Service Engineer role, with full training provided and the chance to develop into a specialist position.

    This role would suit someone with basic electrical knowledge and experience using hand tools, whether from white goods, maintenance, mechanical work, installation or similar practical roles.

    The company are well established and support customers across the North West with the servicing and upkeep of specialist equipment. They have a strong reputation for training and developing engineers, offering clear progression as you build your skillset.

    In this role you will travel to customer sites carrying out planned maintenance, servicing and inspections, ensuring equipment is running efficiently. You will also liaise with customers on site and manage parts and stock within your van.
    This is a Monday to Friday role with no call outs, offering a great work life balance and early finishes at the end of the week.

    The Role

    Field based role covering the North patch (M6 Corridor)

    Servicing and maintaining specialist equipment

    Travelling to customer sites and supporting customers

    Managing stock and equipment within company vehicle

    Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday finish at 12:45pm
    The Person

    Practical and hands-on with experience using hand tools

    Experienced Water Instrumentation Engineers encouraged to apply.

    Background could include white goods, maintenance, installation, mechanical or electrical roles.

    Full UK driving licence
