    Quality Engineer

    Location: Wolverhampton
    Salary: Up to £48,000 + Excellent Benefits

    Overview of Quality Engineer Role

    A Wolverhampton-based Engineering and Manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support operational quality across electromechanical machinery, mechanical handling equipment, and engineered process systems.

    The manufacturing environment includes machining, welding, and heavy fabrication so this role suits someone who understands how quality must be controlled across hands-on production and assembly operations.

    This is a broad operational quality role where you will focus on goods in inspection, supplier NCRs, surveillance across manufacturing, route card compliance, and ensuring quality processes are followed. You will also support elements of project quality such as documentation checks, MITPs, and customer evidence packs when required. This makes it an excellent role for someone who enjoys varied work with direct visibility across production, suppliers, and engineering teams.

    Key Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer
    Operational Quality Control

    Carry out goods inwards inspection including document checks and physical verification
    Support patrol inspection across machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly areas
    Ensure route card compliance and process adherence across all manufacturing stages
    Assist with traceability control and inspection documentation accuracy
    Raise and manage supplier NCRs including investigation and evidence collection
    Work closely with manufacturing teams to resolve shop floor quality issuesSupplier Quality and Compliance

    Review supplier documentation including inspection records and certifications
    Liaise with suppliers regarding NCRs, corrective actions, and improvement plans
    Support supplier surveillance for machining, fabrication, and assembly processes
    Monitor supplier performance and communicate risks or concerns to the wider quality teamQuality Assurance and Improvement

    Support internal audits to ensure alignment with ISO 9001 and relevant standards
    Assist with continuous improvement projects across quality systems and procedures
    Contribute to root cause analysis using 8D, 5Y, or similar methodologies
    Support development and refinement of procedures and operational controls
    Assist in preparing documentation and lifetime records for project deliveryAbout You

    You are an experienced Quality Engineer with a strong interest in operational quality. You enjoy being close to manufacturing processes including machining, welding, and fabrication. You value accuracy, documentation, and process control. You communicate well with engineering, suppliers, and production teams. You are methodical, structured, and take pride in improving quality at source.

    Requirements for Quality Engineer Role

    Experience in operational quality within a regulated engineering or manufacturing environment
    Understanding of electromechanical machinery, engineered systems, or mechanical assemblies
    Experience with machining, welding, or fabricated assemblies
    Knowledge of ISO 9001 with ideally EN 3834 or EN 1090
    Experience raising and managing NCRs
    Understanding of inspection, traceability, and process compliance
    Structured problem solving skills such as 8D, 5Y, or Six Sigma
    Confidence working with suppliers and internal teams
    Competent user of Microsoft Office
    Ability to secure BPSS and SC clearance
    Engineering or Quality related qualification desirable
