    Job description

    Start Date – ASAP
    The School of Adult Education at South Thames College is looking for a Curriculum Manager to lead and manage the delivery, development, and quality assurance of Basic Skills provision (English, maths, and digital literacy) for adult learners. You will ensure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment, and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement across the curriculum area.
    As a member of the School Management Team, you will support colleagues in the curriculum team to raise the quality of education for all provision. The focus is on ensuring that current and future students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications and to develop long-lasting learning and employability skills. An English specialist, you will provide academic leadership within the Basic Skills team and act as a role model for excellence in teaching and learning.
    As our Curriculum Manager - Basic Skills, we would like you to hold a degree or relevant professional qualification in an appropriate subject area (e.g., English, Literacy, Education), hold a recognised teaching qualification and have excellent current teaching skills, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles. With evidence of recent and relevant continuous professional development, you will have experience of working with Awarding Bodies, including understanding of assessment standards, compliance, and curriculum alignment.
    You will have experience of performance management, staff development and of implementing quality assurance and improvement processes to enhance teaching, learning and assessment. With demonstrable experience of supporting “at-risk” learners to achieve or exceed their potential, you will have strong planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills, with a keen eye for detail ensuring accurate exam entries, effective internal verification, and the achievement of high key performance indicators (KPIs).
